« Criticism vs. Opinion | Main | Some movies about classical music »

Chip Clark

There are elitists on both sides, those in the classical world that find pop as something less - and those in the pop world that say classical music is boring or has no life.

It's frustrating for a composer like myself who feels a huge influence from pop music in my classical creations as lecturers and critics have talked down on my use of jazz or rock idioms. While other's are reluctant to listen to it because it's classical.

A major accomplishment for me happened when both sides raved about my music in a concert last June, surprised that the two music worlds could co-exist.
